This is a true HEA miracles happen romance. Beatrice is a young woman who is used as a pond in her father's scheme to sell his hotels at the higher price he uses the fact that her disabled mother needs his support to push her into a marriage of convenience her future husband is not interested in Marrying at all but only wants a mother for his three wards. As the book progresses we see how the hero falls in love with the heroine and how she struggles with the fact that he may or may not still have many mistresses so we go through her turmoil through the book and we see in the end that love does conquer all. All in all a really good book hero is a bit of an alpha male which I absolutely love strong male leads and our heroine is not a doormat but she is a spunky loyal young woman who for the sake of her family sacrifices herself

Totally agree with the other two writers; this was MUCH better than the first book. Sometimes I feel that somebody else writes under the author's name, the styles seem so dramatically different. This heroine was great and the dialogue pulled you in without falling over the melodramatic cliff. I enjoyed the male character as well, only improvement could have been more of a build to him realizing he was attracted to her.
Lynne Graham is my "go to" for light romance. She's delivered another winner with this book. Bee is stronger willed than many Harlequin heroines but still naive. Her marriage of convenience quickly turns to true love and she and her husband don't handle it too well. Neither planned for that eventuality but still find their HEA in the end. Loved it!
Wonderful story! This was one of the few Lynne Grahams that did not have a very pretty h. Surprisingly, Bee was very strong in spite of her plainness. Not a whole lot of misunderstanding here folks, the relationship was defined from the start & when they decided to change the terms of said relationship, it was pretty mutual. It was a most enjoyable read, a keeper for my Lynne Graham shelf.
I honestly don't know why I am not giving this a 5, other than I am optimistic that it can always be better.
The story throughout was very straight and honest between characters and I do appreciate that. No Lifetime drama. There's very little misunderstanding and that allows you to trust the characters, their motives, and have more faith in them (that can be considered boring by some readers though...).
The heroine remained strong throughout and the hero was given enough background explanation to be acceptable in his role as a hero.
The pole section was an interesting idea.
The writing in the book was horrid, and the dialogue is stilted. One of the other reviewers mentioned that this was possibly written by a Ghost Writer. I agree, this is not up to Lynne Graham's standards of storytelling. I only read the first part then returned it to get my money back.
I feel bad about this low rating, because Lynne Graham is my favourite romantic author - I have every romantic book she's written. Sadly her last few stories have been very stale. For the first time ever I didn't buy the first book in this series (Roccanti's Marriage Revenge), because the reviews here were so dire, and I have had similar feelings about her other recent books. With better reviews for A Deal at the Altar I did buy it, but it's just the same. The whole series is planned around arranged marriages - these people aren't in love, they're just making the best of things. I loved her early books A Savage Betrayal, Prisoner of Passion, Indecent Deception, The Secret Wife, The Expectant Bride, One Night With His Wife, The Disobedient Mistress etc, etc. All well-rounded characters in interesting situations, sparkling dialogue (what I would give to have such good comebacks during an argument!), a touch of humour etc. Something has gone wrong, I'm very sorry to say. Don't bother with this series, but buy the earlier titles I've mentioned - they are classics.
I loved the heroine. Matter of fact and to the point. I liked these two. Perfect match and very serious. The author is one of my favorites...I imagine she cranked this out rather quickly on a Saturday afternoon. Frank and to the point...and none of the heart wrenching over the top heartbreaking childhood traumas that Ive been reading lately in HP. Some of the traumas of late have been a tad too realistic.
Lovvvveee the wordsmithing of the author. Loved her quote about marrying for beauty by the grandfather. Also this is told from the male point of view and the tone is masculine and rather witty.
Graham can write no wrong. She is one of my favorites.
